Jazz fans, mark your calendars! The inaugural Fall Into Jazz Festival is set to take place this Saturday, November 16th, from 12 pm to 7 pm, at Viva Downtown’s I.O.O.F. Hall at 1504 Market Street in Downtown Redding. The Fall Into Jazz Festival merges a stellar lineup of local jazz musicians and a unique shopping experience featuring the work of Northern California based artists and vintage vendors, in an unforgettable celebration of music. Organized to highlight the rich jazz heritage and foster a deeper appreciation for the genre, the festival promises to be a new cultural gem in the heart of the Redding Cultural District.
Pianist Cleveland Boney and saxophonist Greg Takemoto first made plans for the festival in 2022, and it would take more than two years to bring the dream to fruition. The Fall Into Jazz Festival is dedicated to honoring the history of this uniquely American musical genre and its contemporary appeal. From established legends to emerging local talent, the festival provides a platform for artists and fans alike to connect over a shared love of jazz.
The Fall Into Jazz Festival is proudly sponsored by Redding Music School, Clevie B Good Music, HerStory Vintage, Viva Downtown, the Redding Cultural District, the Shasta County Arts Council, and Enjoy Magazine, businesses and organizations that work in their own unique ways to bring vibrancy and culture to the community.
Festival goers can expect a diverse range of styles, from classic jazz standards to modern fusion, ensuring there’s something for every jazz enthusiast. With vendors offering a wide range of handmade, vintage and antique treasures, the festival will be a perfect opportunity to start off your holiday shopping in style.
The Fall Into Jazz Festival will feature live performances from Sax Therapy, Victor & Allison, Soul Punch, The Vintage Jazz Quartet (VJQ), the Nala Kathleen Jazz Trio and Fourple. Each band will bring their unique take on jazz to the stage in dynamic 50-minute sets.
Local artists and vintage vendors including HerStory Vintage, Suite Virginia, Naked Tree Studios, Isla Mudra, The B-Side, Cara Bella Home & Garden, and Mollykid Studios will delight shoppers with their treasures in the Fall Into Jazz Boutique. Commemorate your experience at the Fall Into Jazz Festival with the purchase of a t-shirt, coffee mug or market bag at the Fall Into Jazz Swag table.
Charcuterie boxes, elegantly crafted by Licata Catering will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis, or can be pre-purchased with your ticket on our website. The Fall Into Jazz Snack Bar will offer quick salty and sweet bites and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase to keep your energy up as you enjoy the music. Viva Downtown, one of our event sponsors, will have wine and beer available for purchase at the event.
The Fall Into Jazz festival has also contracted with local Downtown Redding restaurants, including Taqueria Los Gordos, From the Hearth, The Post Office, Amazing Alheri at Sizzle’s Kitchen, and Railberto’s Taco Shop to encourage festival-goers to pick up a meal in Downtown between sets. Your Fall Into Jazz wristband gets you a 10% discount on food purchased during the event.
When the festival ends at 7 pm, the party isn’t over! Enjoy an afterparty at The Post Office featuring the Nala Kathleen Jazz Trio from 7 pm to 9 pm. A second after party will take place at Taroko Asian Bar & Grill featuring local pianist Max Gandy from 7 pm to 9 pm. Be sure to keep your wristband on and enjoy 10% off your meal at The Post Office and Taroko Asian Bar & Grill.
