WAG PRESENTS: SPLENDORS OF THE HUMAN VOICE
Three special singers from the Waterbury Aria Group will present an evening of splendid vocal repertoire, to be accompanied at the piano by Dr. Elizabeth Waterbury. The group’s Artistic Director, bass-baritone Robert Waterbury, will present Schubert’s tribute to the art of music, An Die Musik. He will present a dramatic aria from Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. Mezzo-soprano Gwendolyn Rooker undertakes art songs by Johannes Brahms and arias from American composer Mark Adamo’s Ballad or Baby Doe, Saint Saens Samson et Dalilah, and Rossini’s Barber of Seville. Baritone Henry Patterson sings of longing and nostalgia: a set of sea shanties, along with art songs by Schubert, including Erlkönig. Patterson will present arias from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. The singers will close with well-known songs from Lerner and Lowe’s wonderful musical My Fair Lady.
