Fundamentals of Drawing

Fundamentals of Drawing will be held on alternate Thursdays. The class will be taught by Mr. Jim Smyth, who recently moved to Redding, is a well-known Bay Area artist and was Adjunct Professor of Art at the College of San Mateo where he taught drawing and painting over 20 years.  “Fundamentals of Drawing” will present such subjects as “Line Drawing,” “Hatching,” “Rendering,” ” Perspective,” “Composition” among others.  It is designed for beginners to intermediate levels and will focus on working in pencil or charcoal on drawing paper.  Students will work from objects and not from photographs.

Materials needed include: Graphite Pencils 2B & 4B & 6B (at least one of each), Pencil Sharpener (small metal or plastic with blades), 1 White Plastic & 1 Kneaded Gum Eraser, 1 Pad of Drawing Paper (No Newsprint) 18x24 or 16x20 inch, and 1 Roll of Paper Towels.

Tuition for 12 weeks is $300 and will be prorated based on number of sessions attended.
