Figure Drawing

  • Old City Hall 1313 Market Street Redding, CA, 96001 United States (map)

Figure Drawing Sessions are held bi-monthly, usually on Thursdays, from 5-7 p.m. The sessions are not instructor-led classes, but are designed specifically as an opportunity for artists to develop and refine skills working with actual models. Models range in gender, age, clothed, costumed, partially clothed or nude. For this reason, the sessions are limited to artists age 18+.

Artists do not have to sign-up or commit to attending sessions. There are no reserve spots and walk-ins are welcome. It's recommended that artists show up at least 15 minutes early to secure a good spot and set up for the session. It is appreciated when artists RSVP so that facilitators can set up the appropriate number of spots. The session starts at 5:05 pm

Because of the number of oil and pastel artists who attend, the model maintains the same pose for the two hour session, with breaks every 20 minutes. Occasionally, at the request of attending artists, the model will do quick study gestural poses.

There is a $10 model fee and artists are responsible for their own materials and easels. Seating and table space are provided.

Contact Shelly Shively at leinanishively@gmail.com or Joanne Synder at jolobeski@gmail.com for more information and to RSVP.
