Kids Summer Art Camps: Exploration with Air Dry Clay and Sculpture

Students will create sculptures, masks and wonderful creatures inspired by nature, found objects, and clay. This class is for children ages 5-9. Camp dates are July 17-20 from 1:30pm-4:30pm. All classes are $95 for the week or a day rate of $35. To register, please include a form with payment by check made payable to Susan Emerson, mail to: Susan Emerson, Old City Hall 1313 Market St., Redding, CA 96001. To pay by Venmo or PayPal use email address; riverart29@gmail.com. Please pre-register, with a deposit of $20 (non-refundable) in order to hold your child's space with the balance due on the first day of class. A deposit is needed for each designated sessions. About the instructor: Susan Emerson started taking art classes at age 5 at the Richmond Art Center. She was given her first set of acrylics at age 6 so she would stay out of her mother's oil paints. Outside of school, Susan took classes in weaving, Japanese leaf printing, dying using plant and commercial dyes, photography, and beading. Susan also makes pine needle baskets. Through Jr High and High School Susan started selling her paintings at craft fairs in the Bay Area. Susan has always loved color and light in all its forms. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. After graduating SFAI Susan fell into making jewelry in the past her jewelry have been in W, Woman's Wear Daily, Glamour Magazine, SF Examiner, Bay Guardian, New York Magazine, the People are Talking Show, Esprit 2 collections, and Record Searchlight. Susan’s teaching experience spans over 27 years, starting in the Bay Area, and in Redding: K-8 North Woods Discovery School, RSA after school, Shasta Community Ed, and the Children's Summer Art Classes for the past 23 years at her studio and the Shasta County Arts Council.
